Russian cabbage soup or shie is the soup made of cabbage, carrots, potato and meat. There is also the specification called "shie postnie” that is the same soup but without the meat.
You will need:
Cabbage, 0.5 kg;
Potatoes, 4 large;
Carrots, 2 medium;
Onion, 1 small;
Black pepper and salt to taste;
Red pepper, if you like;
Bay leaf, 2-3,
Dill weed,parsley to taste;
Garlic,2-3 cloves;
Vegetable oil.
Preparation:
First, in the boiling meat or chicken broth put chopped cabbage. After 10 minutes add chopped potatoes. Then chop the onion and grate carrots and fry in enough vegetable oil. Put them in soup.
Add salt, pepper, bay leaf, dill weed, parsley and chopped garlic.
Cut meat or chicken, which was used for preparing broth, in a small pieces , add to cabbage soup.
Serve Shie hot. You can add sour cream and fresh parsley or green onions for decoration.
